Seeing that I’ve had a lot of new friends join me recently, I thought I’d take a second introduce myself 💃🏻 My name is Karina, but my close friends and family call me Nina💃🏻 I played competitive soccer from ages 7 to 20. I discovered bodybuilding and fell in love with lifting heavy at around 19, and I’ve been running with that ever since💪🏼 Before I began my quest to be healthy jacked and strong, I was also a runner!🏃🏻♀️
I ran both cross country and track for the last 5-6 years of my soccer career because I thought it would make me a better soccer player.🤷🏻♀️ I got pushed around a lot on the field and could barely push back because I wasn’t very strong😂which is why I got into lifting weights, which is how I got into competing in bodybuilding, and then competing in Powerlifting shortly after.
Today, I’m a coach for @teamlocofit where I have the privilege of guiding people and giving them the tools to be healthier, stronger, leaner, bodybuilders, powerlifters, have a better relationship with food, and a better relationship with their bodies❤️ In my spare time, I do research at USF on metabolic therapies with someone of the most amazing human beings in the molecular physiology and pharmacology space (a blessing for sure!), and get to learn about how specific diets serve as metabolic therapies for diseases such as cancer🔬🧬 I love this platform because of its potential to HELP people. While ironically the internet is full of harmful information, some of us are out here trying to fight the good fight, and help others navigate through all the made up debauchery and point you to the evidence based, scientific approach to optimizing your body and overall health.
Thanks for joining me on this quest for health, becoming a better athlete physically and mentally, and using this niche of “fitness” to mold a better and stronger character. Oh and good food. I love me some good, tasty, healthy, food finds 😋🥗🥑🍦☕️
