I created this dish to boost my iron levels. Why do runners need iron? Your red blood cells, which carry oxygen from your lungs to your muscles, are made up mostly of a protein called haemoglobin. At the core of this protein is iron which binds to oxygen. If you aren't getting enough iron, you don't produce enough haemoglobin which means your muscles aren't going to get enough oxygen to perform optimally. I am Keeping it REAL here... . . . I was totally gonna plate my food and make it look pretty, for this shot. . . . But, that is NOT how my life goes most days. My life is fast paced, chaotic, and messy most days. I barely have time to warm up left overs or whip up a salad. . . . Oh hey!! Yes I HEAR you. I HEAR what you are saying and WHAT you are feeling. I was ONCE there.⁣ ⁣ I was ONCE that person that made excuses. I remember being in that postpartum, exhausted state. I was tired. I was drained. I was running on 3 hours of sleep per night... and literally besides taking care of my kids all I wanted to do was lay on the couch. ⁣ ⁣ I watched my coach for months on end until I realized that nothing was going to change unless I made a change within myself. I needed to change my mindset because I was the only one that was in control of the way I felt. ⁣ ⁣ I needed it to feel better about myself. I needed it to have more energy. I needed it to lessen my postpartum anxiety. I needed it for stress relief. I just plain needed it for myself and the fastest way for me to make a change was to take ACTION.⁣ ⁣ One of the objections I keep hearing over and over again is that I just don’t have time right now because it’s a busy time of life with school starting.⁣ ⁣ The truth of it is... our habits shape us and unless you change that negative self talk then action will never be taken. There will be another excuse that comes along, another busy season of life. The holidays will come and go and then before you know it .. another year will have rolled around. ⁣ ⁣ NOW is a great time because everyone is getting back into a ROUTINE. How many meals do you eat per day?👇🏼⠀ .⠀ Recently I was chatting with a new client in my 1:1 coaching program who told me she gets so busy throughout the day she forgets to eat!!🙊 By skipping meals, she thought she was getting closer to hitting her weight loss goals, but felt starving by the end of the day! She also is feeling frustrated and a little defeated because the scale hasn’t changed!🤷🏼‍♀️⠀ .⠀ When I heard this, I explained to this babe that starving yourself & skipping meals may “work” for some people short-term… however doesn’t guarantee weight loss! That’s when we began to talk about managing her blood sugar, and how consistently fueling your body throughout the day with macro-balanced plates can help her hit her weight loss goals and feel amazing!💁🏼‍♀️⠀ .⠀ During that first coaching call, we made it a non-negotiable goal for her to eat 3 balanced meals every day for the next week… no more skipping meals allows!
