Quickly threw all of this together last night - roasted Japanese sweet potatoes and yams, my go to salad, roasted zucchini, sesame ginger chicken, and paleo banana bread. Meal prepping has been a challenge for me the last few months but nothing beats homemade meals so I’m trying to prioritize it again 💯 here are some basic but useful tips - I live by #3 for sure: 📝 1. Have a plan/recipes in mind so you don’t waste time in the kitchen trying to figure out what to do 📝2. Frontload washing, chopping, etc if you can right after buying the groceries 📝 3. Cook in order of cook time and cook style - meaning if you’re planning on roasting potatoes, steaming broccoli, and pan searing chicken, do them in that order because that way you can work on the chicken while the other two are cooking on their own so by the time you’re done actively handling the chicken the broccoli and potatoes will be done/close to done because you’re cooking multiple things at once 😉 #beetsnbalancesheets

MEAL PREP STRATEGIES 🥙 Keep things simple! I build my meals around three basic categories: 1️⃣Protein (chicken breast, ground beef, hard boiled eggs) 2️⃣Vegetables (broccoli, bell peppers, zucchini) 3️⃣Starches (sweet potatoes, rice, orzo) 🥙 I try to make sure I always have a cooked protein, a cooked vegetable, and a cooked starchy carb ready to go in my refrigerator. This makes it incredibly easy to put together a decently balanced meal, even if I am rushing to get out of the house in the morning or hangry when I get home from the gym. 🥙 You’ll notice these basic categories do not include fats. This is because I get most of my fat from protein sources and the cooking oils I use, and when I do want more fat than that, it’s easy to add a bit more oil or a small handful of nuts to a meal. 🥙 Whatever nutrition strategy you follow, it’s hard to argue with eating real food. Categorizing food in terms of protein/vegetable/starch helps simplify meal-time decisions, which makes it easier to consistently eat healthy food. Depending on their goals, some people may need or want to get more precise about their nutrition; but if you are looking for a simple guideline to keep you on track, try this out!

SPORTS NUTRITION - I love flexible dieting but now the long weekend is over I need to knuckle down and prepare for All England powerlifting championships in May 💪🏽 - This means that midweek (and any training days that fall on a weekend too) I will have all my meals advance prepared. - Why? This isn’t just about staying on track. This is about nutrition timing, balancing out my calories and macros throughout the days meals and snacks. This way I will have a steady flow of energy, and my body will get a steady flow of nutrients to not only fuel it for training, but also to aid in recovery. - Whilst I am reverse dieting and my calories are still low, this is all the more crucial for keeping healthy and able to perform. - MENU • Breakfast: Ham and egg ‘muffin’. @kelloggs.uk All Bran, almond milk and blueberries. • Snack 1: An apple with peanut butter. • Lunch: Paprika chicken, chimicurri olives, pinto beans in herby tomato sauce and fine green beans. • Snack 2: @propercorn. • Dinner: Tuna and pea spaghetti simply dressed in olive oil and fresh lemon juice. • BEDTIME PROTEIN: Chia seed and @myproteinuk casein pudding • @evianwater Don’t forget to hydrate! FOOD PREP DAY 😍 One of my favorite days of the week. Right after grocery day 😏 If you haven’t noticed, I love everything food-related and I loooove cooking & baking. If I’m not careful, that can turn into a very unhealthy hobby, so meal-prepping is my way of making this a healthier hobby. I know some people don’t like eating leftovers, but I try to get LOTS of fruits and veggies & a little protein of some sort and season them all a little differently. That way I can make several different meals out of all the same ingredients. This week I’ve got sweet potatoes, broccoli, asparagus, potatoes, carrots, bell peppers, shallots, baby tomatoes, chicken, and corn (which I forgot in the picture). The shallots, bell peppers, and tomatoes are just cut and ready to be sautéed with whatever. Everything else has been seasoned and baked in the oven at 400*F. Do you like to meal prep? MASS MONSTER CHILI RECIPE by @fitness_walkthrough⠀⠀ -⠀⠀ Had some questions from my previous post about what chili recipe I like to use. Here's some of my food all ready for tomorrow all weighed for my macros. Evening meal will be chicken sausages with sprouts, Yorkshire pudding & a little gravy. Trying to stay consistent, there's been no chocolate since Monday and no mayo smothered over my lunch. Have had 4 mini shortbread biscuits with my pre work coffee, 10 have been on offer over the past 2 days, so I have done well with only 4.
