Privileged Parents are provided opportunities that "other" parents are not. In these scenarios all the parents wanted a better education for their children, but due to more privileges afforded to some more than others they have different outcomes. "Privileged parents who wielded their money, power and professional influence to curry favor, cheat the school system, manipulate the admissions policies, and often broke laws to gain unfair advantage for their children." Felicity Huffman and others are given a slap on the wrist for "allegedly" committing Fraud, bribery, tax evasion, money laundering, School Entrance Exam Fraud (ACT/SAT), Department of Education Fraud, and more alleged charges. This is completely unacceptable when money, prestige, privilege and power will get a second chance to correct unfavorable and unexcusable actions.
Meanwhile parents who are brown skinned tax payers, rights of school choice are taken away from them and their children by all means necessary! Jail time was a bit harsh and embarrassing. Should they be given the opportunity to pay for their children attending school in another county or district? Yes? School choice should always be the option of the parent. The charges does not fit the decision made by the parents or the judge.
The (APS) Atlanta Public School "Scandal" educators and administrators were made a public mockery of. All which happened to be of color... check your privilege! In the same system non-colored school districts were implicated, but were not charged. 34 if the 35 where publicly humiliated, arrested while in court, had to publicly apologize for their actions and where stripped of their dignity. WHY IS IT A SCANDAL WHEN IT'S COLORED PEOPLE INVOLVED, BUT A SCAM WHEN IT IS A NON-COLORED ISSUED?
No one is victimless. But let talk about the children who are hurt and humiliated. Left without parents in many homes. They are still left behind Educationally, Academically, Physically, Socially, Emotionally and Mentally. This is an important issue that should not be swept under the rug. Legislation should be passed to prevent this from happening any further.
